Position: Technical Operations Manager
Location: Perth County, Ontario.
Start: February, 2008
OmniGlobe Networks (www.omniglobenet.com) is a leading provider of broadband Internet microwave-wireless systems delivering to Canadian and global remote rural municipalities. We have networks and operations in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Our head office is in Montreal, Quebec. As part of our expansion in Canada, we are developing an operations centre in Perth County to coordinate the network completion and expansion.
We are seeking a Technical Operations Manager to facilitate the technical support issues, software and hardware implementation, on-site customer installations and support of network operational procedures in the County of Perth. You will work closely with the engineering team during site deployment and act as the ongoing Technical Operations Manager liaising with Engineering, Network Administration, and ultimately reporting to an Operations and Finance Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the smooth network implementation procedures and operations;
- Manage present and ongoing customer installations;
- Organize customer software and hardware support;
- Overview and implement general network uptime procedures, insuring the highest level of network uptime.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is someone who has worked in the telecommunications industry, and has demonstrated success in a technical operations role. Typically, this is a Network Operator with dominant technical graduate qualifications who has direct experience with Internet, wireless and microwave backhaul equipment, with an interest in combining their technical background into a larger network operations role.
- Completion of a related post-secondary degree/diploma (preferably in an Engineering/Computer Science field) or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience;
- At least 3 – 5 years of relevant networking experience;
- Self-motivated with excellent customer communication skills, English;
- Teamwork oriented and thrives in an early stage environment;
- A traceable record of successfully implementing network operations;
- Highly customer-focused, dealing with local customers and business owners including provincial governments, and technology-savvy entrepreneurs;
- Will report to the Perth Operations and Finance Manager.
